Happiness Is A Cupcake Away At Creations Baking Company

“Happiness is just a cupcake away” is the motto of Creations Baking Company and if you don’t believe it, you haven’t seen the Midlothian bakery’s amazing cupcake creations. These include a pumpkin smokes cupcake topped with a toasted marshmallow, cupcakes that resemble emojis, and cupcakes with mermaid tails descending into them. In fact, Living Magazine recently bestowed upon the business a Reader’s Choice Best Bakery award.

“We offer 20 flavors of cupcakes every week,” Deanna Underhill, one of the bakery’s owners said. “We have over 200 that we rotate through, so there is always something new and exciting! We offer each flavor in both a regular size and a mini size. We also offer a variety of cookies, brownies and French macarons.”

Deanna and her daughter Mistie opened Creations Baking Company specifically to focus on gourmet cupcakes, and to reduce the amount of long hours that working for a bakery often involves. Together they worked 17 years for a traditional bakery before deciding it was time for a much needed change.

“We had been working 80-100 hours a week, six days a week and had no life other than work,” Underhill said. “We opened Creations Baking Company in March 2015 in Midlothian with the idea of only being open Thursday through Saturday.”

Underhill’s vision for her new venture was that it would be a location where people could pick up orders and grab a cupcake to enjoy. She never anticipated that on opening day she and her daughter would see 1,000 people walk through the door.

“We realized that God had blessed us with something bigger than we knew,” she recalled. “We are still only open three days a week and it enables us and our staff to enjoy life again.”

The three work days are still busy ones: they get up before sunrise and bake anywhere from 800-1,500 cupcakes per day using all natural ingredients including butter in their frostings. A large portion of Creations Baking Company’s orders are from brides-to-be seeking something a little different for their wedding reception. They can also fulfill orders for birthday parties, showers, corporate events, holiday parties, and more. Some of the unique flavors available include strawberry milkshake, nutella, bacon pancake, chocolate sundae, and more.

Creations Baking Company also makes an assortment of cookies, pies, and cakes. With new flavors, fillings, and decorations constantly being developed and changing with the seasons, there’s always a fresh new assortment of treats available each week.

Customer testimonials have declared Creations Baking Company the best gourmet cupcake shop in Texas and raved about the friendly staff and amazing cupcake flavors. The bakery is open Thursday through Saturday and prices start at $2.75 per regular sized cupcakes. The shop has proved so popular that Underhill opened a second location a year after the Midlothian storefront was introduced.

“In March 2016 we opened a second location in Mansfield,” she said. “We can’t wait to see where God leads us next!”
