Acclaimed Course Design And Service Makes Cypresswood Golf Club Stand Out
Known as the number one golf course in Houston, TX, Cypresswood Golf Club sits on more than 600 acres of greens designed by an expert golf architect, Keith Foster, who is known for other highly ranked golf courses in the area. With land covered in hills, thick woods and flowing water, the golf club offers two courses for a versatile and challenging golfing experience. General Manager Scott Cory says the courses are the perfect opportunity for locals to get away without the travel.
“There are no houses or streets on either of our golf courses, so it feels very much like you are in the country even though we are less than ten minutes from baggage claim at Bush Intercontinental Airport,” Cory says.
Cory says the Tradition Course is considered to be the best overall design and layout for a golf course in the Houston area. However, the Cypress Course is no disappointment either, having won Golf Digest’s Best New Course award in 1988. Considered a shot-makers course, the Cypress Course features doglegs, rolling fairways and a perimeter of pine trees. Cypresswood Golf Club is also the home site of the Southern Texas PGA and its active junior golf program in addition to being a popular venue for hosting events.
“We do approximately 12,500 tournament [and] outing rounds per year and those are mostly local small and large businesses and renowned charities,” Cory says. “We are consistently ranked as one of the very best places to host any kind of golf outing.”
Additionally, Cypresswood Golf Club just started a partnership with Linksrun, a company that hosts marathon runs on golf courses around the country. Cypresswood Golf Club will be hosting a 3K run, 5K run and Speed Golf on their Houston property.
Memberships at Cypresswood Golf Club are packages geared toward the different types of golfers: weekday golfers, all-week-long golfers, golfing families and senior golfers. Each one comes with additional fees, but also additional perks and discounts at other on-site facilities. Included in memberships are unlimited use of golf carts and range balls, affordable golf instruction for those trying to improve their skills and easy access to all the property has to offer. Before or after a full round of golf, players can enjoy breakfast or lunch as the course’s grill. Cory insists its perks like this that make the experience stand out because golfing isn’t just about the game.
“We believe that not only great course conditions but also great customer service are required to guarantee that our customers will return,” says Cory. “[We have] a friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff that we are very proud of.”
