Continuing To Serve The Community Through Faith

Founded by New Braunfels’ original settlers in 1849, Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church provides a Roman Catholic parish that upholds the traditions of its 19th century founders. It is one of the two oldest churches in New Braunfels and has grown to include more than 3,990 registered families today.

“A variety of ministries are available for the enrichment of our parish community,” says Deacon Rusty Brandt, Parish Manager. “Members of Saints Peter and Paul are encouraged to share their time and treasures as well as their special talents.”

Church members provide services such as bereavement counseling, disaster relief, prison ministry, a food bank and a ministry for the sick and homebound. They also sing in several choirs, including the Men’s ACTS Gregorian Choir; the Earthen Vessels Choir; the Life Teen Band; the Parish Choir; and the Spirit of God Singers. For further spiritual growth, Saints Peter and Paul offers a robust educational program, retreat ministries and weekly devotionals.

The parish also operates Saints Peter and Paul Thrift Store, selling clothing and household goods to the New Braunfels community at a reasonable price. Funds from the store support Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School, which provides Catholic education for pre-K to eighth graders.

Saints Peter and Paul welcomes new members through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, or RCIA.

“RCIA calls for the whole parish community to join in the process of welcoming new adult members into the fullness of our church,” Brandt says. “Those entering this process are called to join in a spiritual journey that fosters deepening their relationship with Jesus and His church. This is done by providing time to reflect on the Sunday Scriptures and our Catholic faith tradition, discover the practices and customs of our church and to experience our parish community.”

RCIA is for adults who have never been baptized, who have been baptized in another Christian tradition and now wish to become Catholics, and who were baptized Catholic but have not received their First Communion and Confirmation. There is also a youth version of RCIA for children in third grade and above. Monthly gatherings for those inquiring about the RCIA are held on Sundays throughout the year.

Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church is located just two blocks from the downtown plaza in New Braunfels. Weekend Masses are celebrated on Saturday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 8, 9:30 and 11:15 a.m., and 5:30 p.m. Weekday masses are Monday through Friday at 8 a.m.
